At this year's My College Cares event, 550 MCCers, including over 60 college faculty and staff members, dedicated their time and efforts to giving back to the community.
Jamila Brown Coleman and Margarette Cole were the first and second-place winners in the Coalition on Adult Basic Education's contest held during National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week.
My College Cares is a one-day event where the campus closes so students and employees can venture out into the community and volunteer in tasks that range from cleaning, painting, organizing, gardening, and more.
The Casteel Gallery's next exhibition, "Another Bridge," will focus on the works of MCC faculty members Daniel Ethridge, Laura Reinstatler, and Terrell Taylor. The opening reception is Oct. 17 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Thanks to MCCers' efforts, more than 2,300 items were collected during a recent pantry restock competition. The pantry supports students facing food and clothing insecurity, a challenge many college students face.
