When Tylier Roberts was laid off from her job in March when the pandemic swept through the Meridian area, she knew it was time for a change. "I wanted to do something different .... Be essential," she said, so she's enrolled in Meridian Community College's Medical Office Management Technology.
At 48, Shatagia Bell believes it's never too late to learn. "You've got to keep going. It's challenging... sometimes it's hard but don't stop. It's rewarding at the end," said Bell. Enrolled in Meridian Community College's Adult Education program, Bell, a wife and mother of Meridian, is working on completing her high school equivalency certificate.

Meridian Community College is offering a free class for the Fall Semester 2020 to any Mississippi dislocated workers or employees who were furloughed or laid off after March 13, 2020, due to COVID-19.
Summer student enrollment at Meridian Community College set the record for the highest in the history of the College. MCC administrators said the count reached 1,917 students for the summer term, compared to the 2019 report of 1,007 resulting in a 90 percent increase. Previously, the highest enrollment occurred in 2010 with a little over 1,500 students.
