Shirley, an 18-year-old freshman from Collinsville, is excited to be on campus at MCC, a place she's known since her dad, Myke, teaches in the Construction Trades Program.
Meridian Community College is adding another team to its Eagle athletic roster: swimming, making MCC the only community and junior college in the state to offer it as a sport.
"MCC was worth it. I use what I learned there today and every day. The instruction I received prepared me for life and the work and job duties I do today. And it helped me be successful," Boone said.
Outstanding Meridian Community College students' academic and athletic achievements shone as they were spotlighted in the College's annual Awards Program.
Eagle Basketball player Elijah Bishop is the first in his family to attend college.
