Seven members of the Mississippi Public Safety Academy Class 1901 received their Mississippi Board of Law Officers Standards and Training certification after they completed the required 307 hours through the academy at Meridian Community College.
Meridian Community College is offering a free class for the Fall Semester 2020 to any Mississippi dislocated workers or employees who were furloughed or laid off after March 13, 2020, due to COVID-19. "Being essential has kept our community going," said Leia Hill, vice president of institutional advancement. "We understand the importance - and sometimes struggle - of taking that first step. MCC wants to help those to get started on a new path."
Summer student enrollment at Meridian Community College set the record for the highest in the history of the College. MCC administrators said the count reached 1,917 students for the summer term, compared to the 2019 report of 1,007 resulting in a 90 percent increase. Previously, the highest enrollment occurred in 2010 with a little over 1,500 students.
