Division of Industrial Technology

MCC's Division of Industrial Technology covers a wide arena of career options designed to meet the educational needs of students who are seeking preparation for employment in occupational fields. These programs are housed in the MCC-Riley Workforce Development Center.

Automotive Technology

The Automotive Technology program provides hands-on training in diagnosing, servicing, testing, and repairing modern automotive systems, including complex computer-controlled electrical systems. Students learn in a practical, industry-style environment with an emphasis on developing strong diagnostic, technical, and problem-solving skills.

Commercial Truck Driving

The Commercial Truck Driving program is an eight-week program which prepares students to drive trucks and other commercial vehicles. The program is a combination of classroom and actual road driving and includes safety, Department of Transportation rules and regulations, proper shifting, logbooks, preparing paperwork, map reading, handling cargo, and various driving conditions. 

Diesel Mechanic Technology

The Diesel Mechanic Technology Program is a one year, two semester certificate program which equips students with the skills needed to maintain and repair various industrial diesel equipment; such as agricultural tractors, commercial trucks, and construction equipment. The curriculum covers the inspection, repair and maintenance of engines, powertrains, hydraulic systems and other components.

Electrical Technology

Electrical Technology is a one-year program that prepares students to install, operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems; including residential, commercial & industrial wiring, motor controls, and electrical distribution panels. Students get extensive hands-on training in electrical troubleshooting and development of problem-solving skills in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical procedures.

Industrial Maintenance Technology

The Industrial Maintenance Technology program provides students with the technical knowledge and skills necessary for success in the field of manufacturing maintenance. Students will receive instruction and training in safety, fluid power, electricity, motor control systems, PLC, mechatronics, mechanical systems, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, welding and precision machining.

Precision Machining Engineering Technology

Precision Machining Engineering Technology students receive instruction in lathe and mill operations, computer numerical control programming, print reading, applied mathematics, precision measurement, CNC operation, computer aided design and manufacturing, fixture engineering, process control, and production management.

Utility Lineman

The Utility Lineman Program at Meridian Community College is a 16-week certificate program designed to prepare the student for entry‐level employment in the field of utility power transmission and distribution construction, troubleshooting, and repair. 

Welding and Cutting Technology

The Welding and Cutting Technology program prepares students for entry-level employment in the field of welding and cutting. Students are taught the use of the arc welder, oxyacetylene torch and plasma arc cutter. Student also receive instruction in blueprint reading, welding metallurgy, and welding theory. Upon completion of the program, students receive advanced NCCER and OSHA certifications.
