Professional Licensure Disclosures

In compliance with the U.S. Department of Education and the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA), Meridian Community College (MCC) provides information about professional licensure in correlation with programs offered at MCC that may lead to state licensure.

Students are advised to review the following program licensure information BEFORE beginning a program at MCC that leads to professional licensure with the intent to be licensed outside of the state of Mississippi:

  • Review the licensing information for the applicable program(s) below.
    • While MCC endeavors to ensure this information is up-to-date, changes in licensure requirements of any state can occur at any time.

  • Contact the appropriate licensing agency in the U.S. states and territories where you plan to seek licensure.
    • This will enable you to obtain the most current information about licensure requirements and determine whether MCC’s program meets the educational requirements.

    • Students interested in professional licensure programs should contact the applicable licensing board to determine any additional requirements beyond the degree program that may need to be fulfilled to obtain licensure in a particular state. Some licensing boards may require additional post-graduation examinations, acquire additional experience, pay application and/or licensing fees, undergo criminal background checks, submit fingerprints, or provide otherinformation prior to obtaining licensure.

  • Seek advice from the program coordinator and/or an academic advisor at MCC about professional licensure for your intended program of study.

What is a Professional Licensure Program?

A Professional Licensure Program is an academic program intended to (or advertised to) satisfy educational prerequisites for a State-issued professional license, certification, or other credential offered by a third party that is required for employment in an occupation.

Licensure Requirements

As a future licensed professional, it is your responsibility to review and understand the licensure requirements for any state or territory where you intend to seek licensure. Completing a program of study is typically only one part of the professional licensure requirements. Other professional licensure requirements may include, and are not limited to, additional coursework or training, successful passage of a state or national exam, fees, background checks, references, fingerprinting requirements, etc. Please be aware that a state or territory may change licensure requirements at any time. A good practice is to periodically check with the state licensure board or agency in the state or territory where you intend to work to confirm licensure requirements
