Meridian Public School District and Meridian Community College partner to expand dual enrollment opportunities through Meridian Collegiate Academy

Meridian Public School District (MPSD) and Meridian Community College (MCC) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to continue operating the Meridian Collegiate Academy/Middle College (MCA), a unique dual-enrollment program designed to empower high school students with a strong head start on their college education.

The program allows eligible Meridian High School juniors and seniors to complete both their high school diploma and an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree by attending classes on the MCC campus.

“This collaboration between MCC and MPSD exemplifies our shared commitment to student success,” said Dr. Amy Carter, superintendent of Meridian Public School District. “The Meridian Collegiate Academy is an extension of the Academies of Meridian that allows students to gain early exposure to college-level learning and career-focused pathways that prepare them for life beyond graduation,” she said.

MCC President Dr. Tom Huebner noted the connection between the two educational institutions is vital. “The Meridian Collegiate Academy is a prime example of how strong partnerships can redefine educational opportunities. We are proud to help shape a future where students can graduate high school with a college degree in hand and a clearer vision for what comes next,” he said.

MCA operates as a state-authorized innovation initiative, offering flexibility in academic delivery while maintaining high standards. Students split their time between traditional high school coursework and college-level instruction, receiving guidance from both MPSD counselors and MCC academic advisors.

To be eligible, students must be classified as juniors, have a minimum 3.0 grade point average, and meet specific academic readiness standards, including ACT or ACCUPLACER scores. Students must also complete applications through both institutions, submit transcripts, and attend an orientation with their guardians.

Approved courses will be taught by qualified MCC faculty using college-approved curricula and materials. Students will also have access to the full range of MCC student services, including tutoring labs, mental health support, career counseling, and extracurricular activities. Students will attend classes at both Meridian Community College and Meridian High School.

This agreement solidifies the shared vision of MCC and MPSD: to provide students with early college access, academic rigor, and the support systems necessary for long-term success.
