Automotive Technology
Meridian Community College’s Automotive Technology program prepares students for careers as automotive technicians or mechanics in today’s fast-changing automotive service industry.
This Associate of Applied Science degree program provides hands-on training in diagnosing, servicing, testing, and repairing modern automotive systems, including complex computer-controlled electrical systems. Students learn in a practical, industry-style environment with an emphasis on developing strong diagnostic, technical, and problem-solving skills.
Graduates of the program are prepared with the entry-level knowledge and experience needed to pursue employment in the automotive field or continue building their skills through additional certifications and on-the-job training.
To meet graduation requirements for this program, students must successfully complete the specified courses listed below with a “C” average (GPA of 2.00) or better. A grade of “C” or higher is required in each ATT course to progress in the program.
Minimum admission requirements (in addition to general admission requirements) must include one of the following:

Attain a 14 composite score on the ACT;

Score a 230 or higher on both the ACCUPLACER NG Reading Section and the Accuplacer NG Algebra Section

Earn a “C” or above in Math for Occupational Education (CTE 1113);

Complete 15 semester hours with a “C” average or above from an accredited college or university and demonstrate competency for Intermediate Algebra. Developmental coursework does not satisfy this requirement.
Students in the Automotive Technology Program must attend MCC full-time (15 or more semester credit hours).
In order to progress in this program, a grade of “C” or better is required in all Automotive Technology courses. A passing grade must be earned in all other coursework, with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
