When Brandon Harkins worked on his associate degree in Systems Based Electronics Engineering Technology at Meridian Community College, he decided a double major in the Telecommunications Technician Program would make him more competitive today's workforce.
Meridian Community College student Tanya Shirley received the Mississippi Health Information Management Association (MSHIMA) scholarship. Shirley, a student in MCC's Health Information Technology Program, enrolled in the MCC program in August 2020.
At 48, Shatagia Bell believes it's never too late to learn. "You've got to keep going. It's challenging... sometimes it's hard but don't stop. It's rewarding at the end," said Bell. Enrolled in Meridian Community College's Adult Education program, Bell, a wife and mother of Meridian, is working on completing her high school equivalency certificate.
Like most, Daniel Walters is busy these days. At 28 years old, Walters is a husband and father who works a 40-hour shift at Wayne General Hospital as an emergency medical technician (EMT). And, he's completing his studies next month at Meridian Community College's Paramedic Program.
During his years on the road as a commercial truck driver, Otis Gowdy has traveled from one end of the country to the other, navigating his way through large cities and meeting people from all walks of life.
