UWA PoolThe Damon Fitness Center natatorium recently served as a classroom for a neighboring state’s university students.

Dr. Candice Keene, clinic director and clinical instructor in physical therapy and athletic training at the University of West Alabama, contacted Wade Heggie, Damon Fitness Center director, to demonstrate the benefits of aquatics to the UWA athletic training class for therapy, exercising, and rehabilitation.

“We used the equipment – buoys, noodles, jogging belts, and kickboards – to show how this will help athletes,” Heggie said. “We also discussed what MCC does for the athletic teams to help prevent injuries, rehabilitation, and to find ways to make them better,” he added.
