MUW president to speak at MCC Women’s History Month celebration
Incorporating the theme of “A Mile in Her Shoes,” Meridian Community College’s Student Engagement will host a Women’s History Month celebration on Wednesday, March 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Mississippi University for Women President Nora Roberts Miller will be the keynote speaker for this event for current MCC students and it will be held in the MCC-Riley Workforce Development Center.
“This event is designed to offer our student population an opportunity to be engaged, not just at fun activities like the games we play in the lobby of ballgames, but also with notable growth opportunities while we celebrate the plight and history of women in our country,” said Brandon Dewease, director of student engagement.
Mississippi University for Women Present Nora Roberts Miller became president of the W in 2018. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from The W, and a master of business administration degree from Mississippi State University and is a certified public accountant. She has served on The W staff since 2001. Miller was named one of the Top 50 Businesswomen of the Year by the Mississippi Business Journal.
“We hope to broaden horizons for the young women who participate and help them make local connections with professionals right here at home at MCC,” Dewease said.
Women’s History Month was created to celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.
