Pickett garners JA Member of Year Award
Brandi Pickett, Meridian Community College Wellness and Fitness Division coordinator and instructor, received the Junior Auxiliary of Meridian Active Member of the Year Award.
This peer-recognition award is given to an active member who has consistently excelled and demonstrated the auxiliary’s values and who has made significant impact through dedication, competence, exceptional performance, excellent service to projects and commitment to Junior Auxiliary.
Completing 175 service hours, Pickett has also garnered the organization’s Platinum Service Award. She has served as mini grants chairperson and second vice president. In addition, Pickett helped to launch a new mentoring project and served as a mentor. She was credited for adding a professional development grant.
Pickett has served as president of MCC’s Faculty Staff Association and the Mississippi Community College Faculty Staff Association. A Northeast Mississippi Community College alumna, Pickett earned bachelor and master’s degrees in physical education from Mississippi State University. A National Board-Certified teacher in early to middle childhood physical education, Pickett taught in primary and secondary schools for 12 years before joining MCC eight years ago. She has been a guest presenter at the Mississippi Association for Health, Physical Education Recreation and Dance state convention for three years.
