MCC alumna lands full-time job after internship
While growing up, Kaydee Patterson spent a lot of time helping her dad fix things around the house.
Today, the Meridian Community College alumna is on the job at Atlas Roofing.
“I always knew I wanted to work with my hands, so when I saw the Industrial Maintenance Program at MCC, I had to join,” Patterson said. She enrolled in the Industrial Maintenance Technician program and completed her two-year certificate in May 2025.
After graduation, Patterson started an internship with Atlas thanks to an MCC program, which is funded by the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA); it allows students to earn a wage while applying their classroom skills in the workplace.
In seven weeks, Patterson’s hard work and positive attitude led to a full-time job. Her supervisor, Barrie Goodman, said Patterson is “outstanding and eager to be the first person at the task and the last to leave.”
Patterson, who plans to continue learning by taking mechanic tests to earn more certifications, said the internship proved to be invaluable. “It’s been an incredible chance to learn and grow.”
