Financial literacy workshop set Oct. 18

Being financially savvy makes sense, but sometimes the path to financial stability isn't always straightforward.

Meridian's Citizens National Bank is offering a workshop on Oct. 18 from 6-7 p.m. in the Dulaney Room in Webb Hall for MCC students, faculty, and staff to help ensure that financial literacy is a part of everyone's life.

Citizen's Community Development Director Tra Alford and Community Development Officer Tyeisha Smith will lead the workshop that will include building credit, how to budget, and home ownership. Also, there will be one-on-one breakout sessions and the opportunity to open an account with the financial institution.

"We love doing this and feel this would be a great chance to serve our community college and help by having a team of bankers come out and speak and be available for a breakout session," said Neil Henry, regional president of Citizens National Bank.

The event will also include refreshments and door prizes.
