MCC Financial Aid to celebrate awareness month

Financial Aid

There's a saying that goes college doesn’t cost; it pays. But understanding how to pay for college takes effort.

MCC's Financial Aid department can help. Throughout February, MCC will join the higher education community in celebrating Financial Aid Awareness Month. This is an effort to provide crucial information to students and families about access to federal, state, and institutional student aid.

"We're here to raise awareness to help students know what to do, where to go and who can help," said Lauren Stokes, MCC state grant, federal work-study, and scholarship coordinator.

The Financial Aid department will offer treats, helping hands, and scholarship drawing for several days in February. Take a look at what's on the calendar:

Wednesday, Feb. 1: Pizza Day at the Financial Aid Office beginning at noon.

Wednesday, Feb. 8: FAFSA Day, where students can get one-on-one help completing the federal application, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 14: Valentine's Day treats at the Financial Aid Office.

Tuesday, Feb. 21: FAFSA Day II, where students can get one-on-one help completing the federal application, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 28: Students who have completed their 2023-24 FAFSA can forward their confirmation email to finaid@meridiancc.edu along with their name and student ID to be entered to win a general scholarship for the Fall 2023 Semester at MCC. Details are available at the Financial Aid Office.
