Breast Cancer Awareness kickoff
Breast Cancer Awareness kickoff set for Sept. 30
Fall’s colors of brown and gold will be mixed with shades of pink and green on Meridian Community College's campus for October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
As a part of that observance, the Breast Cancer Awareness kickoff is planned for Friday, Sept. 30, at 9 a.m. in front of Ivy-Scaggs Hall.
Campus and community alike are welcome to join in the kickoff, which announces the renewal of the commitment to fighting breast cancer, raising awareness, and supporting those affected by breast cancer.
The ceremony will also serve as a platform to announce the Queen City Race for Life and Street Strut on the MCC campus on Saturday, Oct. 22. The event begins at 8 a.m.
The race and strut, a long-time tradition held in downtown Meridian, is hosted by the College's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic honor society for community and junior colleges. Cindy Kane Schrock, an MCC alumna, and Phyllis Holladay, advisor for PTK, joined forces for this fundraiser, which generated funds for the Anderson Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund.
During the kickoff, the ambassadors will be recognized. The ambassadors are caregivers and survivors of breast cancer.
