ADN student excited to begin program
To say that Zoraida Herpin is excited would be an understatement.
The first-semester Associate Degree Nursing student is thrilled to be starting classes on Monday, August 16, and for many reasons.
Herpin, who grew up in Redondo Beach, Calif., said she took a leap of faith and came to Meridian. “I have friends who live in Petal, and I got here right after the pandemic,” she said.
She noted she struggled with her studies last semester because of life-changing events, including family members’ deaths, her children’s health issues, and her issues with narcolepsy. The single mom of four persevered and passed the prerequisite classes to be admitted to the College’s ADN program.
“For me, being here is very humbling. I’ve had friends and family cheering me on, saying, ‘You can do this. You can do this,’” Herpin said.
