Sharing life experiences: Program celebrates Women's History Month with panel discussion

Callie Penson, Kimberly Rush, Kelli Wallace, Cyndy Bratu and Dr. Kelley Gonzales share their experiences during the Women’s History Month Celebration. "What do you carry in your purse?"

That question was asked, and the answers were as unique as the panelists who spoke during Meridian Community College's 2023 Women’s History Month Celebration. The event brought together women from different walks of life to share their stories and experiences on navigating life.

MCC staffers and panelists Dr. Kelley Gonzales, Kimberly Rush, Cyndy Bratu, and Callie Penson shared their experiences and perspectives on success as a woman in today's world. "We wanted to have a panel discussion with our phenomenal women on campus to talk about our struggles and triumphs as we navigate life with our different bags," said Marlo Turner, a Women's History Planning Committee member.

She added, "we also wanted to have an opportunity to uplift one another and inspire others whose 'bag’ may be too heavy."

Other committee members include Nedra Bradley, Regina Davis, Brandon Dewease, Dr. Cedric Gathings, Dr. Gonzales, Lashundra Grady, Brandy Hill, Ashley Tanksley, Michelle Hampton Thompson, and Kelli Wallace. Wallace served as moderator.

"The event was a powerful reminder of the contributions of women and their importance of lifting one another,” Turner said.
