Meridian Community College celebrated the achievements of its Fall Semester 2024 Utility Lineman Program students with a special recognition ceremony, honoring them as future workers in this career and technical field.
At MCC's Utility Lineman Program, students learn to build, repair, and maintain electrical power and distribution systems during a 16-week course of study. The instructors are Kim Culpepper and Dan Steverson, who have over 75 years of lineman experience in this industry. Steverson also serves as the program coordinator.
As a part of the program, students develop skills in climbing in an elevated work site and gain knowledge in overhead construction, underground construction, system design and operation, National Electric Safety Code, AC and DC circuits, and electric power. Electives are available in advanced utility line worker technology levels and commercial driving license (CDL).
Members of this class, which started in August, included Justin Alexander, Haden C. Bean, Whitton M. Brewer, JaQuarius J. Carter, Devin Griffin Clark, Johnathan L. Cole, Jacob P. Davis, Bo M. Gavin, Benjamin S. Hopkins, Michael Joyner, Tyler Gage Mann, Brayson Morson, Memphis Pierce, Carson A. Smith, Maddox Gray Vaughn, Matthew Williams, and Cayden A. Wright.
