Two Meridian Community College full-time staffers, Brandy Hill and Kelli Wallace, have been recognized as two of the Meridian area's outstanding citizens as members of the Class of 2023 Top 20 Under 40.

Described as emerging leaders, recipients of the Top 20 Under 40 awards are making an impact professionally and contributing to the betterment of the community.

Top 20 Under 40 is sponsored by Mississippi Power Co. through a partnership with The Meridian Star newspaper and the honorees are spotlighted in Meridian Life magazine.

In addition to the full-time MCCers, Steven Miller, an adjunct instructor with the College's Business and Marketing Management Technology Program, and Destiny Redmond, a Business and Office Technology Program student, were also celebrated as members of the Class of 2023 Top 20 Under 40.

College officials applaud the MCC honorees. "Their dedication, spirit, and commitment exemplify the transformative power of education and the immense potential that resides within our community. This recognition is a testament to their individual contributions, inspiring us all to reach greater heights in our pursuit of excellence," said MCC President Dr. Tom Huebner.

Hill, the MCC Foundation accountant, has worked at the College for two years and counts helping students as the most enjoyable part of her job. "I get to work in a field that I love and make a difference in the lives of others at the same time,” she said.

Growing up in Livingston, Alabama, Hill now lives in Scooba with her husband, Tooney, and their new son, Memphis. She holds an associate of arts degree from East Mississippi Community College, a bachelor of business administration, accounting, degree from Mississippi State University, and a master of business administration degree from Delta State University.

"My faith is the most important thing to me; I'm always motivated to do my best to help others,” she said.

Wallace, MCC's housing and student activities director, is nearing her first-year anniversary of working at the College. "My number one goal is to create a safe and fun environment for our students to make fond memories at one of the most pivotable times in their lives," she said, explaining her job's mission.

It’s her desire to make an impact that motivates Wallace. "It’s very important for me to be an upstanding example to others who wish to make a true difference in the world and our community," Wallace said.

"We all have a purpose and have the ability to equate change in the lives of others," she added.

Wallace holds a bachelor of science in psychology degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master of science in counseling psychology degree from William Carey University; she's currently enrolled at William Carey, pursuing an educational specialist degree in higher education administration.

She is the daughter of Michael and Kathy Wallace and has two siblings, Kendall and Kyle.

Hill and Wallace are honored to be named to this Class of 2023 Top 20 Under 40. "This award is not just a testament to our work, but a celebration of the opportunities MCC has provided," said Hill. Wallace added, "We share this recognition with our colleagues, who inspire us daily, and the students who motivate us to do our best."
