Getting ready to ease on down the road

The Tony-award-winning show, The Wiz, will open Friday, Nov. 17, in Meridian Community College’s McCain Theater as the next performance in the College’s Arts & Letters Series. 

The Wiz actors include back row from left, Aaliyah Lee, Evillene; Ke’Yana Hudson, Glinda; LaQuinton Holliday, Lion; Mariah Miller, Dorothy; and Billy Walker, the Wiz. Front row from left are Nate Latham, Scarecrow; Jamiroquan Harris, Tinman; and Lisa Brookins Mercer, Addaperle.  The production is also set for Saturday, Nov. 18. Curtain for the Friday and Saturday shows is at 7 p.m. A Sunday, Nov. 19, matinee is at 3 o’clock. 

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. 

The Wiz features a mix of rock, gospel, and soul music, all while telling the tale of L. Frank Baum’s story, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This production of Dorothy’s adventures through the Land of Oz is a fun, family-friendly, modern musical that will put a smile on your face and keep your toes tapping. 

The Wiz is directed by Rosebud Productions’ Anquanizia Hall and produced by MCC’s Susie Johnson.
