MCC freshman prepares for pageant while helping others
When Meridian Community College’s Spring 2025 semester begins, freshman Taylor Wilkerson will be gearing up for more than just a new term - she’ll also be preparing for a national pageant.
Wilkerson, 19, from Clinton, holds the title of Teen Miss Mississippi Earth USA and will travel to Orlando, Florida, to compete in the Teen Miss Earth USA pageant in January. This national competition brings together state representatives to promote environmental awareness and sustainability.
“I thought this would be a great opportunity to help the environment,” she said about her involvement in the pageant.
Wilkerson’s passion for helping others, inspired by her mom, a social worker, has led her to volunteer at healthcare facilities, including nursing homes. She has also donated items to the MCC Pantry, which supports students in need.
Alongside her 17-hour course load, Wilkerson works at MCC’s Student Success Center and is a college dance team member. She plans to study nursing and hopes to pursue a career as a travel nurse.
