MCC to Host Suicide Awareness Presentation
September is recognized as Suicide Awareness Month, a time to address mental health challenges and encourage support for individuals who may be silently struggling.
To bring light on the subject, Meridian Community College will host a Suicide Awareness presentation on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. in the McCain Theater. The event will focus on recognizing warning signs, understanding available support systems, and learning how to foster a more supportive environment, said Nedra Bradley, MCC executive director of family services and student support.
“Suicide impacts people from all walks of life, and it is crucial that we come together as a community to learn how we can support one another, especially our students,” she said.
Dawn Wright, MCC psychology instructor, will speak, sharing insights on the importance of mental health and the steps to take to help.
Individuals can call 988 to connect directly to the national Suicide and Crisis Lifeline for 24/7 support.
