Meet MCC student Raven Satcher

Raven Satcher, a 24-year-old Meridian Community College student, is on a mission to impact children's lives positively.

A native of Quitman who is in her final semester of Early Childhood Education Technology, Satcher said, "I always wanted to open my own daycare, and I love to teach kids in any way possible because every kid learns in unique ways."

Choosing MCC was the first step in reaching for her dreams; she was attracted to the campus and its inclusive environment. As a first-generation student, Satcher is making the most of her college experience. She lives on campus and works part-time in the Student Success Center, and she's eagerly looking forward to her graduation in May, a milestone she shares with her birthday, making it all the more special.

"MCC helped me to grow up," she said.

When she's not studying or working at the Student Success Center, Satcher enjoys activities that include singing, listening to music, watching movies, and painting. "I have a lot of hobbies," she added.

There's a job at a hometown daycare waiting on her when she graduates, and though Satcher wants to continue her education, she said she'll put that on pause for a year before returning to academic life.
