Student Spotlight: Josh Randall

Being active is more than a cliché for Josh Randall; it’s a way of life.

This 18-year-old Meridian Community College freshman, who was on the Dean’s List for the Fall Semester 2025, balances a heavy course load with a demanding part-time job, plus a creative side hustle, and he still makes time to be involved on campus. It’s a lot, but he’s enjoying it all.

And the best part? It’s the people. “I’ve met so many great students and faculty members. I love meeting new people, and I meet someone new every day,” Randall said.

Randall is enrolled in the Business and Marketing Technology Program, where students develop skills in marketing, management, sales, advertising, and e-commerce. “Sales is all about building relationships and talking to people,” he explained, “and I enjoy that.”

Though many of his Business and Marketing Technology Program classes are online, he also likes in-person classes that meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays; his MCC class schedule allows him to work 12-hour shifts as an EMS driver for a local ambulance company. “I’ve always been interested in first responders,” he said, noting that although he did consider studying in that field, he’s chosen a different career path.

Randall makes time for sports photography and videography. “I like sports photography because of all the action,” he said, but noted he’s recently done engagement photos and is booked to take wedding photos later in the year. “I like doing the personal photos for people, too, because it means a lot more.”

At MCC, Randall is a residence assistant (a post he likes because he has his own room on campus), an Ivy League Recruiter, student government vice president, and an Eagle Influencer – a task that includes documenting college life through MCC social media channels. He’s also started a college ministry in conjunction with his church, First Presbyterian, and its youth pastor.

“So, I have a couple of things on my plate here at MCC,” he said.
