Springing into action: Motivating MCC students to ready for fall
For students, spring is the time to prep for end-of-semester finals and finalize summer getaways.
For MCC’s Division of Student Affairs, now is the time to plan for Fall Semester 2022.
"Spring is the time of year to begin looking forward and making plans for exactly how to ‘Find Your Wings’ in the coming year,” said Brandon Dewease, director of student engagement. Using the theme, Spring Forward, Student Affairs is motivating freshmen or first-year students to continue their MCC studies for the fall at the College.
“Anyone can talk about going to college, but we want students’ days filled with actions; visit financial aid office, meet with an advisor; and secure housing,” he said.
Marking off those three items will significantly help students be prepared for fall, Dewease said. “We know that retention is essential to success, and persisting until graduation is advantageous to current students,” he said.
A 2019 financial survey shows a dollar value - almost $200 per credit hour - is
associated with all collegiate level training. Dewease noted, “Spring Forward is our
effort to help students continue in that journey by making preparations for the upcoming
year.”
