Shrek Jr. comes to McCain for two-day run

Shrek Jr.Who says fairytales can't come true? Thanks to the magic of theater, they can, especially if it's Meridian Community College's Arts & Letters. 

The College's McCain Theater will magically become a swamp, a castle, and a forest complete with the cast of fairytale characters when the Arts & Letters Series presents Shrek The Musical Jr. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4 and 5. 

The curtain rises at 3 o'clock at each matinee. 

Susie Johnson, Arts & Letters Series director, is directing this musical that tells the tale of everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, as he leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Shrek JR. has been described as a fun show with a powerful message for all.

"They're working very hard and having fun," Johnson said about the young actors who often handle roles both on and backstage. "It gives me joy to see them understand the value of hard work and how it really does pay off,” she said. 

Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for children and may be purchased online by going to meridiancc.edu/artsandletters.
