MCC alumni spotlight: Robby Atkinson
The voice of the Eagles, Robby Atkinson, is an alumnus of the College. He studied
in University Transfer and Broadcast Technology programs.
As the official voice of the Eagles, Robby Atkinson is at home behind the microphone on the athletic fields at Meridian Community College.
His passion for the Eagles was nurtured early. “Athletics led me to MCC because I grew up around the baseball program at MCC. My dad took me to my first baseball game when I was nine years old, and I was hooked from the first day I was on campus,” Atkinson said.
Atkinson would return to campus to begin his academic studies in two programs, University Transfer and Broadcast Technology. “MCC was the best thing that has ever happened to me. The friendships that I built is something that I cherish to this day,” he said.
Today, Atkinson manages three Meridian-based radio stations and is involved in sports broadcasting like that for the MCC Eagles. “Sports has brought me back home to MCC as well because I am the voice for MCC sports on our streaming channel, mcceagles.live,” he said.
He also performs play-by-play commentary for Lamar School football and other announcing duties at the college preparatory school.
Atkinson earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Alabama. He and his wife, Nikki, have four fur babies.
