Retirees honored for their service to Meridian Community College
With gratitude and respect, Meridian Community College honored its recent and upcoming retirees, recognizing the impact of those who came to work with purpose and made a difference in students’ and colleagues’ lives.
This year’s honorees included faculty and staff who have served the College in classrooms,
offices, labs, and behind the scenes. The MCC Foundation hosted the event.
Retirees celebrated were Marjorie Dean, Practical Nursing Program instructor; Carol Falconer, housing officer; Dr. Kelley Gonzales, associate vice president for technology; Jeffery Hemphill, Associate Degree Nursing (AND) Program instructor; Lisa Jenkins, ADN Program instructor; and Laura Reinstatler, theater instructor.
The College also recognized Cathy Carpenter, library receiving clerk; Debra Herring, Radiologic Technology Program coordinator and instructor; Tamar Mosley, HSE test coordinator; Ginger Crawford, evening services coordinator; and Flora Rogers, assistant director of custodial services.
“It’s always hard to say goodbye to people we care about,” said MCC President Dr.
Tom Huebner during the program. “When they leave, they’re taking with them years of
experience. These people are special. They’ve made a huge difference here.”
He added the retirees helped the College grow and move forward and that their impact could be felt in the lives of tens of thousands of students.
Addressing the honorees, Dr. Huebner said, “Every day you came to MCC with a purpose – and with the thought that what you do might matter. You did make a difference. Your work matters. It matters today, and it will matter for a long time. Because you’re leaving a special legacy.”
The retirees were given special awards from the MCC Faculty Staff Association, and a reception followed the ceremony.
