Retirees saluted for their years of service

Tributes and tales of semesters past were shared when Meridian Community College hosted a retirement reception Monday, May 15, honoring this year's retirees. 

The retirees, including Rebecca Pierce, Lacy Johnson, Doug Jernigan, Evette Cooper, and Cynthia Kennedy, were recognized for their dedication, service, and commitment to the College. Additionally, Richard Benefield, Stuart Brown, Ron Bullock, Beth Calderon, Diane Delk, Beverly Long, and Annie Whigham were also honored for their dedicated service. 

Combined, these MCCers have contributed more than 200 years of service to the institution. 

Pierce served as an administrative assistant for the Workforce Solutions division; Johnson was an instructor and chair of the Fine Arts and Communications division; Cooper served in the Custodial Services department; Jernigan was library director and reference librarian; and Kennedy was a Cosmetology Program instructor. Benefield was a maintenance specialist; Brown was a 3D CAD Engineering Technology Program coordinator and instructor; Bullock and Long were Associate Degree Nursing Program instructors; Calderon was a Spanish instructor and chair of the Language and Literature division; Whigham was an administrative assistant for the Todd Library; and Delk was Foundation accountant I.
