MCC to host annual Queen City Race for Life and Street Strut
Once again, Meridian Community College’s campus will be awash in pink when the College hosts the annual Queen City Race for Life and Street Strut, bringing the community together to raise awareness of breast cancer.
The 5K run and walk, one-mile fun run, and Survivor Street Strut will be Saturday, Oct. 19, with all activities beginning at 8 a.m. at the MCC Track.
The events pay tribute to breast cancer survivors and current breast cancer patients, increase breast cancer awareness, and raise funds for the Baptist Cancer Center-Anderson Patient Benevolence Fund.
“This has and will continue to be a powerful reminder of our dedication to fighting breast cancer and supporting those who have been affected by the disease,” said Phyllis Holladay, MCC math instructor and Phi Theta Kappa advisor who has helped to organize the event for more than 15 years.
As a part of the race and strut, cancer survivors and ambassadors Pam Mosley and Taymecca Sears will be saluted, as will Tom Bradshaw, who will be honored as a caregiver.
