MCC honor society earns PTK nod again

Phyllis Holladay shows one of the PTK graduation stoles. Meridian Community College’s Nu Upsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic honor society for community and junior colleges, has earned another accolade from the organization.

The MCC chapter received the Recognizing Excellence in Acceptance and Completion with Honors Award (REACH) for excelling in membership development. The chapter has received the award multiple times, according to College officials.

Graduation stoles denoting their PTK membership are given to PTK chapters as a REACH reward.

According to Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, PTK president and CEO, the program was created so that as many students as possible could receive membership benefits — including scholarships and increased opportunities for engagement with peers and faculty on campus, leading to higher completion rates.
