Meridian Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter earns honors
Meridian Community College’s Nu Upsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has earned several top awards for its outstanding leadership and service, and the chapter and its advisors will be recognized during the PTK Catalyst 2025 national convention in Kansas City, Missouri, April 3-5.
The chapter’s officer team, which includes Marcos Aguirre, Alondra Arreola-Espino, Hannah Buchanan, Seth Garrett, Emma Hall, Katherine Hayes, Chloe Smith, Savannah Smith, Earron Stewart and Samuel Swanner, won the Distinguished Chapter Officer Team Award, one of the most competitive honors in the international organization. This award recognizes the team’s hard work, leadership, and commitment to service throughout the year.
In addition, the chapter advisors received national recognition for their service and dedication. Phyllis Holladay earned the 2025 Continued Excellence Award for Advisors, which honors experienced advisors who show strong support for their students and chapter. Crystal Sterling received the Paragon Award for New Advisors, an award given to first-time advisors who go above and beyond to support their chapter.
“We are incredibly proud of our Nu Upsilon Chapter and our advisors for these well-deserved honors,” said Dr. Tom Huebner, MCC president. “Phi Theta Kappa is all about scholarship, leadership, and service—values we believe in at MCC. This recognition shows the strength of our students and their mentors.”
