Partnering with MCC
“There’s nothing better to do than to come in and work with a college like this that’s bringing future machinist to our factories.”
That’s what Tom Hofmann, a regional metalworking manager for MSC, a leading North American distributor of metalworking and maintenance, repair and operations products and services, said as he and other personnel from throughout the Southeast were on the Meridian Community College campus. Their mission: To test the company’s exclusive software MillMax™ that traces the frequency of the spindle and ultimately increase productivity.
Another MSC company representative who serves the College, Chris Duran suggested using the lab at MCC’s Precision Machining Engineering Technology Program, led by Brian Warren, program coordinator and instructor and Industrial Technology Division chair. “He knew we have the technology to do things like that here and asked if we could host it. We made the program and had it all set up for them so they could run their test on it,” Warren noted.
Hofmann noted that Duran would eventually instruct the new technology to Warren’s students. He added, “so MCC students will be among the first in the country to see this exclusive technology, which is a huge plus.”
