College to host next orientation session July 18
Future Meridian Community College students can attend MCC's next orientation session on Thursday, July 18, with check-in from 8:30 to 9 a.m. at Ivy-Scaggs Hall.
This one-day event is designed to help new students transition smoothly into college life and enhance their overall experience.
During the July 10 orientation, MCC President Dr. Tom Huebner encouraged new students to engage with faculty and staff. "Their job is to help you be successful; that's what they want to do. That's something special about this place," he said. He noted, "This is your chance to form the vision of who you want to be."
Mandy Hurtt, executive director of recruiting and admissions, explained that orientation participants can be others than just students. "There is no limit on the number of guests they can bring, and we offer a special break-out session for parents and guardians," she said.
Throughout the day, students will have the opportunity to:
Campus Life Fair: Meet representatives from the Eagle's Nest Bookstore, Cafeteria, Student Support Services, and the Student Success Center to learn about campus resources.
Advisor Meetings: Discuss academic goals and class schedules with advisors.
Classroom Tours: Get to know classroom locations on the main campus and at the Workforce Development Center.
After registering for classes, students can obtain their student IDs and parking decals.
