Ochsner Rush MA-to-LPN grads honored at MCC pinning ceremony
Six Meridian Community College Practical Nursing Program graduates were honored during the program’s pinning ceremony for being the first group to complete the Ochsner Rush MA-to-LPN Upgrade Program.
The program allowed Ochsner Rush medical assistants to attend nursing school while continuing to receive their regular pay. Ochsner Rush also covered the cost of their education and offered continued employment after graduation.
The graduates are Clayosha Avery and Hannah Rogala, both of Meridian, Dawn Fredrick of Little Rock, Gwendolyn Grace of DeKalb, Christina Hughes of Newton, and Kaitlyn Smith of Hickory.
“These medical assistants have successfully completed the LPN program, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication and commitment to advancing their careers,” Ochsner Rush officials said.
The students said the support made it possible to attend school while caring for their families.
“It made things much easier because most of us have kids and families to support,” Grace said.
The graduates also praised MCC’s hands-on training, faculty and staff.
“The teachers were wonderful, and the college itself was very organized,” Hughes said.
Avery described the program as a life-changing opportunity.
“Thank you for giving us this opportunity, believing in us and providing us with a full scholarship,” she said.
