Medical Assisting students celebrated during recognition week

A little school spirit and a few special gifts helped to make a week memorable for Meridian Community College's Medical Assisting Technology students as the College celebrated Medical Assistants Recognition Week.
Observed Oct. 19-23, the week honors the role medical assistants play in caring for patients and keeping medical offices running smoothly.
To mark the occasion, students received gifts that included MCC eagle earrings, a T-shirt, an MCC water bottle or cup, a badge holder, and a pocket notebook.
“I am so proud of their accomplishments so far and feel certain they will progress and make amazing medical assistants,” said Gloria Adams, coordinator and instructor of MCC's Medical Assisting Technology Program.
MCC's 65-credit-hour program prepares students for careers in this health care field. Students learn both clinical and office skills, from taking vital signs and assisting with patient exams to scheduling appointments and managing medical records.
Medical assistants often work in doctors' offices and clinics, where they play a role in helping patients receive quality care.
