A lunch-and-learn opportunity

Reviewing luncheon notes are Dennis Childress, MCC welding student; Ellie Massey, MDSR business development representative; Jeannette Howell, MCC career and technical education support services coordinator; and Tiffany Parris, MDRS special projects coordinator for the southern region.

Representatives with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS), the City of Meridian, and Ochsner Health visited Meridian Community College for a lunch-and-learn session for MCC students with disabilities.

Tiffany Parris, MDRS special projects coordinator for the southern region, said the state agency partners with the colleges around the state with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinators for the informal sessions. The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDSR) empowers Mississippians with disabilities to achieve their goals and live independently.

Representatives with Ochsner Health and the City of Meridian spoke to the audience about opportunities in connection with their agencies. Jeannette Howell, MCC career and technical education support services coordinator, said the event was successful. "The feedback from the students has been very positive, and we're planning to host another luncheon next year," she said.
