If you ask Melissa McClure what she enjoys the most about her job, she'll answer, "I love coming up with ways that are more efficient for our office and Career and Technical Education faculty."

Others see the fruits of her labor. "Based on feedback from our instructors, Melissa has made their work much easier and more accessible in the areas of course content files, Perkins reporting, and overall information sharing," said a colleague.

Because of her dedication, McClure, administrative assistant to the vice president for Workforce Solutions, is MCCer of the Month for September. The MCCer of the Month program, which the MCC Foundation sponsors, salutes the College's hardworking employees who go above and beyond their duties. In addition to a commemorative plaque, honorees are given $250.

“I'm so excited and honored," she said after learning of the honor during a surprise presentation. Her immediate supervisor, Joseph Knight, vice president for Workforce Solutions, said McClure is “such a blessing to work with. She always seeks ways to improve our processes while streamlining all the data, scheduling, and reporting that flows through the Workforce Solutions office."

Though she's been employed at MCC for two years, she also worked at the College for six years in the 1990s. McClure earned her Business and Office Technology certificate in 1990 and her associate of applied science degree in Graphics Communication Technology in 1998.

"I truly look forward to coming to work each day," she said.

One nominator said McClure goes above and beyond the call of duty and always does it professionally. "When Melissa hits roadblocks, she does not let that stop her; she begins to think of win-win situations and how we might remove the barrier holding back progress," the nominator said.

McClure said she is blessed to have so many great co-workers, adding, "MCC is like family."

Born and reared in Meridian, McClure and her family moved to Enterprise two decades ago. She and her husband Scott are the parents of son Corey, who is 29, and daughter Zoie, who 19. She counts witnessing her children accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior as a memorable event in her life.

What motivates her? McClure said, “I am reminded that we aren't promised tomorrow and to count every day as a blessing."
