Stockton named MCCer of the Month for December
Celebrating at the MCCer of the Month announcement are Brandy Hill, Erin Davis, Jan Murphy, Dr. Leia Hill, Tracy Stockton, and Dr. Tom Huebner.
Tracy Stockton sees Meridian Community College as more than a workplace.
For her, it is a community built on people, faith, and the chance to help students find their wings.
Stockton, an assistant manager of the Eagle’s Nest Bookstore, was named MCCer of the Month for December. The MCC Foundation sponsors this monthly award to exemplify the College's hardworking employees who go above and beyond their day-to-day duties. Honorees are peer-nominated. In addition to a commemorative plaque, recipients are gifted $250.
Stockton has served the College for three years. “Working with so many wonderful people in every department is one of the most enjoyable parts of my job,” Stockton said.
Others see Stockton’s helpful personality. “Whether a student is looking for textbooks, school supplies, or simply needs some guidance, Tracy is always ready to assist, answer questions, and offer a positive word. Her presence makes the bookstore an inviting place to visit,” said Jan Murphy, Eagle’s Nest Bookstore manager.
“The same kindness and support extend to staff and faculty as well—Tracy assists employees in finding the resources they need for classes and events, provides helpful information about supplies or orders, and always greets her colleagues with the same welcoming attitude she gives to students. Her consistent helpfulness and friendly approach ensure that everyone feels comfortable and supported in the bookstore,” Murphy added.
A nominator noted, "Every time I come into the bookstore, Tracy greets me and others with a friendly smile and a welcoming attitude. She doesn’t just perform her job duties; she creates an atmosphere where everyone feels valued, offering help and encouragement no matter how busy the day is.”
Originally from Natchez, Stockton moved to Lauderdale County during elementary school and graduated from West Lauderdale High School. After high school, she attended Meridian Community College.
Stockton began working at a young age, starting at Mr. Discount Drugs before becoming a retail manager at age 19. She said those early jobs helped shape her sense of responsibility and service.
She is married to her husband, Jimmy, and together they have four children and four grandchildren. “My family and faith motivate me daily,” Stockton said, and she counts as her favorite Bible verse, Isaiah 40:13: “Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.”
