"Any time she sees a need, she steps in and offers to help.”

That's how one person described Meridian Community College staffer Theresa Hogan. "Her title is scholarship coordinator, but she helps everyone in all areas of the MCC Foundation," the person added.

Hogan's way of reaching out to help others and giving it all to her MCC tasks has earned her the MCCer of the Month recognition for October. The MCC Foundation sponsors this monthly award to exemplify the College's hardworking employees who go above and beyond their daily duties. In addition to a commemorative plaque, honorees are given $250.

Helping is a way of life for Hogan, and in fact, it's the most enjoyable aspect of her job. "Helping students, especially the ones that have given up on finding help, then seeing or hearing them overjoyed by the help the scholarship has given them is rewarding," Hogan said.

Hogan was born in Anchorage, Alaska, but grew up in Meridian. Recently, she and her family moved to Butler, Alabama, where she and her husband of 34 years, Allan, now make their home. The Hogans have two children, Tony and Alexa, daughter-in-law Katie, and three grandsons, Marshall, Brody, and Porter Hogan.

She admits the best thing about MCC is "the feeling of family." Her MCC family admires her as well. "She is very organized and pays attention to detail. If she does something, you don't have to check behind her. You know that it's going to be done right," a colleague said.

“I consider it a wonderful privilege to work closely with Theresa Hogan. Her dedication and passion for her work are truly inspiring. Theresa's unwavering commitment to our students, her colleagues, and our community make her not just a great employee, but a cherished member of our MCC family. She is more than deserving of the 'MCCer of the Month' award,” said Dr. Leia Hill, vice president for institutional advancement and executive director of the MCC Foundation, Hogan’s supervisor.
