It’s a busy office where Amanda Bratu works. Daily, she greets and assists streams of visitors, including MCC students, colleagues, and community residents, to MCC Foundation housed in Hardin Hall.

“The best thing I like about MCC is the people I work with every day …the people in the office who have become like family, and the new people I get to meet through the College, the Foundation, and Lifetime Quest,” she said.

Bratu, who has worked at the College for three and a half years, serves as an administrative assistant to the vice president for institutional advancement, and she is MCCer of the Month for April.

The MCC Foundation sponsors this monthly recognition award to exemplify the College’s hardworking employees who go above and beyond their job duties. Honorees receive a commemorative plaque and a $250 cash award.

Bratu’s supervisor, Leia Hill, notes Bratu is a vital member of MCC Foundation team. “We are so proud of her for this accomplishment. It is always affirming when our colleagues and coworkers notice the work we do, and many have noticed Amanda's work ethic and capabilities. Amanda works hard to make sure everything we have to accomplish through our office is completed in the most efficient and professional way,” she added.

A native of Meridian and an alumna of MCC, Bratu earned her bachelor of science degree in education from Mississippi State University. She and her husband Eric have been married 28 years, and rounding out the Bratu family are sons Daniel and Caleb, his wife Haley, and grandchildren Alexander and Asher.

Bratu counts her first day at work at MCC as memorable (“I had no idea of what to do,” she said) and the highlights of Homecoming Day 2021, Lifetime Quest trips to Memphis and Nashville, the latest Foundation travel trip to Key Largo.
