MCC Talon Club Honoree: Sandy Clark

Business classrooms do not look the way they once did.

Chalkboards have given way to smart screens. Marketing plans built around print ads now rely on analytics and digital strategy. Email, the internet, and online instruction have transformed how business is taught.

At Meridian Community College, the Business and Marketing Management Technology Program has kept pace with that change. And for 30 years, Sandy Clark has led the way.

This year, Clark will be inducted into MCC’s Talon Club, an honor recognizing employees who have given 30 or more years of service to the College. She will be recognized during the March 4 ceremony at McCain Theater.

“MCC is home… home with great people,” Clark said. “I went to school here, grew up in the area, and have worked here most of my life. I always knew MCC was the place to be.”

When Clark began teaching, email did not yet exist on campus.

“We went from no email to email to the internet,” she said. “Now I teach online.”

Today, her students study social media strategy, branding, and digital analytics - tools that did not exist when she first stepped into the classroom.

“The business world keeps changing,” Clark said. “Our job is to make sure our students are ready for it.”

Colleagues say she has consistently updated curriculum, added relevant course content, and kept the program aligned with workforce needs while maintaining high standards.

Clark’s connection to MCC began as a student after graduating from high school in 1986. She was active on campus and even served as a bat girl for Eagles Baseball under Coach Corky Palmer.

“I met so many good friends here that I still have,” she said.

After earning her degree from Mississippi State University-Meridian in 1994 — and even presenting her research in London — Clark began working part-time in MCC’s Business and Marketing Program in February 1996. She later became a full-time faculty member and continued building the program as technology and delivery methods evolved.

Clark and her late husband, Chris, raised two children, both now nurses. Outside the classroom, she remains active in her church and enjoys time with family and friends.

Through decades of change in business and education, Clark has adapted, grown, and continued preparing students for what comes next.

And through it all, MCC has remained what it has always been to her: home.
