MCC to host Summer 2025 Commencement Aug. 1

Meridian Community College will hold its summer commencement on Friday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m. on the College’s campus.
More than 100 students are candidates for graduation at this ceremony.
College officials are looking forward to honoring students at the upcoming commencement ceremony, which will be held in the Graham Gymnasium in Ivy-Scaggs Hall. Dr. Cedric S. Gathings, vice president for student affairs and dean of students, said commencement recognizes students' hard work. “Our students have stayed focused and worked hard to reach this point,” Gathings said. “We’re proud to celebrate what they’ve achieved.”
During the ceremony, graduating students Ieshia Brown, Ta’Kayah Smith, and Monquie Banks will offer the invocation, welcome, and benediction, respectively. Brown is a Cosmetology student, Smith is a Medical Assisting Technology student, and Banks is a Practical Nursing student.
MCC alum Parker Berry (Class of 2022) will lead the audience in singing the College's alma mater.
Before the commencement ceremony on Aug. 1, MCC's Practical Nursing Program will hold a separate pinning ceremony at 9 a.m. in the College’s McCain Theater to honor the nursing students and celebrate their journey to becoming nurses. In addition, on Thursday, July 31, the Paramedic Program will host its pinning ceremony at 10 a.m. in the Dulaney Room in Webb Hall.
