New MCC students take their first steps on campus
More than 150 new Meridian Community College students took their first steps toward finding their wings during the college’s latest one-day orientation session.
The event gave incoming students an opportunity to explore the MCC campus, learn about available resources and prepare for the start of the fall semester.
“Orientation helps students get acclimated to campus before classes begin,” said Mandy Hurtt, executive director of recruiting and admissions. “We’re here to support them in every way.”
Throughout the day, students visited a campus life fair featuring representatives from the Eagle’s Nest Bookstore, cafeteria, Student Support Services and Student Success Center. Representatives shared information about the programs, resources and services available to students.
Students also met with academic advisers to discuss their educational goals, plan their schedules and register for classes.
Tours of classrooms on MCC’s main campus and at the Workforce Development Center helped students become more familiar with the locations where they would attend classes. After completing registration, students could also obtain their MCC identification cards and parking decals.
The last session is set for Aug. 15 at McCain Theater in Ivy-Scaggs Hall.
