MCC’s Organization of Student Nurses gives back through service project

For students in Meridian Community College’s Organization of Student Nurses (OSN), giving back is a key priority, so much so that they have a community service project each semester designed to make a difference.

This semester, OSN members chose to support the Margaret Taylor Blalock Student Resource Center, located on the ground floor of the L.O. Todd Billy C. Beal Learning Resources Center. The Center serves MCC students as both a food and clothing bank and as a vital access point for additional support services.

Wendy Cox, MCC Support Services Coordinator, who oversees the Center, expressed her gratitude for the group’s contribution. “The timing of this gift is really helpful,” Cox said. “This is a real blessing to us.”

Representing the OSN chapter, third-semester Associate Degree Nursing students Makensie Junkins, 20, of Collinsville; Matthew Driskill, 27, of Polkville; and Erica McCaskill, 42, of Madison, presented a $480 donation to the Center.

Cox noted that donations to the Margaret Taylor Blalock Student Resource Center are always welcomed, with support coming from both campus and community organizations.

The Center is hosting a food pantry drive from Nov. 3-14. For more information, click here
