It’s a three-peat: MCC named a top higher ed workplace
For the third year in a row, Meridian Community College has been named to the Great Colleges to Work For® list, a national recognition program that spotlights outstanding higher education
workplaces.
The 2025 list recognized 76 colleges and universities nationwide. Institutions were evaluated in Job Satisfaction & Support, Mission & Pride, Faculty & Staff Well-being, Inclusion, Belonging, & Community, Compensation & Benefits, Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness, Shared Governance, Professional Development, Confidence in Senior Leadership, and Faculty Experience.
Among Mississippi schools, MCC was one of only six that earned a place on the list. Other institutions included Mississippi State University, the University of Mississippi, Mississippi University for Women, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Of those, five were named to the prestigious Honor Roll; MCC was named to the Honor Roll for the second year in a row.
Meridian Community College was also one of only two Mississippi institutions recognized for success in seven or more categories, earning high marks in seven areas alongside Mississippi State University, which scored in nine. Nationally, just three colleges achieved recognition in all 10 categories, and only 24 institutions were recognized in seven or more.
MCC President Dr. Tom Huebner said the honor reflects the dedication and heart of the college’s faculty and staff.
“I cannot even begin to tell you how proud this makes me,” Dr. Huebner said. “What makes this college exceptional is our unwavering commitment to our students, to excellence, and to one another. I’m not sure I could ever ask for anything more.”
The Great Colleges to Work For® program is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in higher education.
