Mississippi Bureau of Investigation hosts training at MCC

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) held a statewide training session at Meridian Community College, bringing together nearly 100 law enforcement officers for a day of professional development and collaboration.
Leading the session was Major Jeffrey D. Willis, assistant special agent in charge and director of training and outreach with MBI’s Auto Theft and Salvage Division. The training, part of the MBI Training Initiative and the Mississippi Associates Program (MAP), was approved by the Mississippi Board on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training for eight hours of continuing education credit.
Ninety-five officers registered for the event, not including instructors and special guests. The session focused on strengthening partnerships among agencies and sharing best practices to enhance public safety across the state.
By statute, MBI holds general police powers and coordinates criminal intelligence and information through its Criminal Information Center. The agency includes several specialized divisions, such as Special Operations and Major Crimes, Victim Assistance, Human Trafficking, Crime Scene, and Cold Case units.
MBI agents work closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to share expertise in crime prevention, investigation, and victim support, all with the mission of deterring criminal activity and protecting Mississippi communities.
Meridian Community College Chief of Campus Police Joshua May was pleased with the session. "This type of training and collaboration is paramount for success, not only for our police agency, but for our community and state. MBI providing this free law enforcement officers training is essential for everyone. Especially, during a time with many law enforcement agencies simply cannot afford high-quality training."
