Mission accomplished: Liftoff banks another session

Meridian Community College's Liftoff has completed another mission: Propelling students toward success.

"MCC's Liftoff is our version of orientation," said Mandy Hurtt, director of recruiting. "It's important because it gets students here on campus. The incoming students learn about the campus in general and all the services available to them. They also learn how to be a successful student," she said.

These orientation sessions boost incoming first-year students' college knowledge. Participants tour the campus, network with faculty and staff, get their student ids and complete other tasks before the first day of Fall Semester 2023 begins.

Hurtt added, "The biggest thing about Liftoff is for students to know we are here to help them. We want them to succeed and do everything we can to help them find that pathway to graduation."

Liftoff participant Andrea Johnson was excited to attend the recent session and looks forward to starting her academic journey and soaring to new heights. "I got to meet new people and see the different programs offered here," she said.

Additional sessions are planned for July 13, July 20, and Aug. 10.
