Casteel show spotlights works by Lawayne House

Visitors to Meridian Community College's Casteel Art Gallery will have the opportunity to view the works of artist Lawayne House in the show, "Theoria (Thinking), Poiesis (Making), Praxis (Doing)," before the closing reception on Thursday, Oct. 5. 

House, an instructor at Northwest Community College, grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, graduated from the Memphis Academy of Arts, and worked as a designer for Hallmark Cards for 25 years.  

Through his many creative pursuits, he has designed numerous illustrations and advertising materials for retail and corporate accounts. He created various products sold nationwide in the United States Post Offices, most notably, "The World of Dinosaurs." 

The reception will get underway at 4 p.m. in the gallery that’s located in the Davidson Fine Arts Center in Ivy-Scaggs Hall. 

The Homer Casteel Gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free.
